The world's first solid iron nanosphere timer with a magnetic time stopper!
At the End of 2014, we introduced the Esington Glass to the world on Kickstarter. With incredible support from the community, the project raised $196,560 with 2272 backers!
After years of testing and feedback from the community, we're back to solving the biggest problem in timeboxing today: interruptions.
When you get interrupted mid-sprint, you can now stop time.
"Got my Esington today and I am ecstatic! I can't believe how great you handled everything. I am really impressed and grateful for putting this great idea out to the public... I just can't wait to change my life and discipline myself a step at a time to accomplish what I've always wanted to do." - Vanessa C, backer of the original Esington glass.
Did you know the average worker gets interrupted after only 11 minutes of work? The crazy thing is it takes 25 minutes to get re-focused on the job.
With Esington 2.0, the magnetic time-stopper will keep your place in the sprint and act as a bookmark for your brain, waiting to be unleashed to restart your work.
We invented a new way to control the time on your glass. Simply place the magnetic stopper over the neck of the glass and the timer stops!
The silicone magnetic stopper is designed to have a unique feeling and a satisfying soft "click" into place to stop the timer. This will make it easy to engrain the "bookmark for your brain", and bring you back exactly to where you left off your work when you're ready to resume. A cool new magic trick!
While the stopper is in place, your brain senses incompletion and will subtly pull you back to your work. You will get a satisfying reward when you pull out the stopper and unlock the timer.
4 million solid Iron nanospheres - more than 1 kilogram in each glass! These work perfectly with the magnetic stopper since they are highly attracted to the embedded magnet.
The solid Iron nanospheres flow freely, even after thousands of magnetic stops.
Millions of solid iron nanospheres produce a soothing white noise for the first 20 seconds to act as a cue to start your work habit. Here is a test video from our friend:
Each glass is hand-blown borosilicate glass (like pyrex). Borosilicate glass is a type of glass that contains boron trioxide which allows for a very low coefficient of thermal expansion. This means it will not crack under extreme temperature changes like regular glass. It's a standard 25-minute timer designed for the Esington timeboxing method (similar to the Pomodoro method with a few cue differences).
The Esington Method uses the Esington Glass as the timer and boils down to 3 simple steps:
The Esignton glass is designed to help you develop a timeboxing habit as quickly and easily as possible. It does this by giving you three powerful cues to train your initial habit:
This unique combination of cues was designed to lower the activation energy required to form the habit. High activation energy is the prime reason habits don’t stick (and why only 8% of people are successful in achieving their New Year's resolutions).
The Esington Method trains your brain to go into “hyperfocus” mode (also known as "flow") when the above cues are given. This gives you the ability to destroy procrastination with the simple action of turning over the glass. It's the famous "Click-Whirr" phenomenon Robert Cialdini popularized in the book Influence.
